Ep.9 Steffen - Berlin, US Election, Reunification of Germany, The Holocaust, Racism, COVIDiots and Essential Life Skills That Should Be Taught In School

My dear friend Steffen and I spoke during the US election week, before we had the results. We discuss the influence of US politics and culture, and the differences in the German political system. He talks about his life in Berlin (living near a red light district, twice) and the current COVID crisis. We have a very open conversation about racism, The Holocaust, as well as life in Germany after the Reunification. Steffen was born in East Germany and he shares his family's experience living there as well as life after the Reunification - and the reality of being born in a country which no longer exists. We have a lot of laughs while also solving the world's problems (hint: meditation and non-violent communication). He's a wonderful human with a huge heart and a lot of deep insights. Hope you enjoy!

Ep.8 Borzou - The Art of Dentistry, 1st-Generation American, Farsi and Arabic Languages, FC Barcelona and the Potential Loss of Messi

Borzou is one of my closest friends. We discussed his life and work - as a dentist - during COVID-19; what it was like for him growing up in Indiana as a first-generation American of Iranian descent, his struggles with parental expectations and pushing boundaries. I learned about the differences between Farsi and Arabic, as well as what influenced Borzou's tremendous generosity and his moral code. This conversation was recorded a few days after Lionel Messi announced that he planned to leave FC Barcelona, so we also did a deep dive into the Barcelona team and management.

Harry Martinian was my TM (transcendental meditation) teacher and it was such a pleasure to get to speak with him again. He is a gifted teacher and a truly special man who has dedicated his life to serving others. We talk about his experience with the COVID-19 pandemic and what this pandemic is teaching us. He shares some amazing life advice as well as brilliant quotes by Brene Brown and Margaret Mead.
